When you realise that you’ve been kidding yourself all along. You didn’t want that. All you wanted was to be one of the pretty girls, who boys actually want to talk to. Who girls want to be friends with. You just want to be loved. But you knew that it was never going to happen. You can see the people edge away as you talk to them. People didn’t like you, because you were ugly, not talented, chubby and annoying. So unlike your sister, the pretty, funny sports star, always having the right friends and having the best times. So you decided that you weren’t going to be that weird kid no one takes any notice of anymore. You were going to make something of yourself. You were going to be the smart kid. Maybe then your parents would be proud of you. It worked. You made some friends who actually seemed to care about you. But what you didn’t realise was that no one really likes the smart kid. You found that out soon enough. The kids in your high school made it pretty clear. It was alright, you still had your friends. But then the friends leave. And you’re all alone, with your grades on a paper, always showing how you aren’t good enough. Because there is always someone out there who is better than you. And then you realise that even though you are desperate to make something of yourself, to have the perfect life you have fashioned in your head, it will never happen. Instead you’ll just sit there watching those pretty, funny girls get the life you worked so hard for. You try to be like them, but your body is not like theirs, your clothes don’t wear as well as theirs and they’re just more interesting than you. And so you’ll sit there, alone with your grades, right back in square one.

If you’re a “nice guy” to a girl up until you realize she doesn’t want to date you, then go on about how she’s a cold shrew that friendzoned you and how no girls date nice guys, like, nah mate, girls do date nice guys. You just aren’t a nice guy. You’re a passive aggressive beta with internalized misogyny and a serious victim complex.
